Profile
The Department of Computer Science and Engineering was founded in 1990 and accepted its first students in 1993. Initially it functioned as a Department of Computer Science, while from June 2013 it evolved into a Department of Engineering, with a 5-year study cycle leading to an Engineering Diploma recognized by Technical Chamber of Greece (T.E.E.). Graduates enroll in T.E.E. with a specialty in Electronic Engineering. It is the oldest of the founding Departments of the School of Engineering of the University of Ioannina. Minimum duration of study: ten (10) academic semesters.
Mission and goals
The aim of the Department is to provide its students with high-quality undergraduate and postgraduate studies, in order to equip them with knowledge, skills, morals, openness of spirit, cooperation, so that they may become well-rounded personalities with high professional qualifications. Because the fields of Computing and Information Technology are rapidly evolving, students learn to adapt to change and the constant need for knowledge renewal, while becoming familiar with the creation of new knowledge through ongoing research participation.
