Department

Profile

The Department was founded in 2000 and operated under the title Department of Plastic Arts and Art Sciences. Since 2013 has been part of the School of Fine Arts of the University of Ioannina. In 2016 it was renamed Department of Visual Arts and Art Sciences. The entrance exams are the same as those that apply to the rest of the Fine Arts Departments of the Schools of Fine Arts in Greece. Minimum duration of study: ten (10) academic semesters.

Mission and goals

The mission of the Department of Fine Arts and Art Sciences is to cultivate and promote the visual arts with academic and applied teaching, to provide students with the necessary tools that ensure their successful artistic and professional careers, to upgrade their artistic and aesthetic education, to educate them in the History and Theory of Art and to contribute to the social, cultural and economic development of the region
