Profile
The Physics Department of the University of Ioannina was founded in 1970 and it is comprised of 4 Sections:
• Astrogeophysics
• Theoretical Physics
• Atomic and Molecular Physics , Nuclear Physics and High Energy Physics
• Solid State Physics and Physics of Materials and Surfaces.
Minimum duration of study: eight (8) academic semesters.
Mission and goals
The mission of the Department of Physics is, to provide quality theoretical and practical education to its students in the subject of Physics as well as in related subjects (materials technologies, chemistry, mathematics, IT, atmospheric sciences, and pedagogy), and furthermore to produce original high-level research. For its rich research work, the Department enjoys international recognition while it plays a very important role in the scientific development of the country.
