Doctoral Studies at the University of Ioannina aim to train researchers to conduct autonomous, original and structured research, which promotes the science of their field of study.
Doctoral students of the University of Ioannina acquire skills and abilities of a high level, in order to meet the requirements for staffing Institutions of Higher Education, Research Centers, institutions, organizations and companies of the public and private sector.
In the framework of the action “Support for Internationalization Actions of the University of Ioannina – MIS: 6004807”, which is co-funded by the European Union (European Social Fund – EKT) and National Funds within the framework of the Operational Programme “Human Resources and Social Cohesion 2021-2027”, the following 6 foreign-language doctoral programmes are being implemented:

- ICT in Education: Applications in Natural, Social and Health Sciences
- Βιομηχανικό Διδακτορικό στις Επιστήμες Πληροφορικής και Τηλεπικοινωνιών (Industrial Ph.D. in Computer and Telecommunications Sciences)
- International Doctoral Studies entitled: “Chemistry and Technologies for Pollution Control and Environmental Protection-CTePCEP
- Neurosurgery novel advancements
- Biological Inorganic Chemistry
The University of Ioannina also encourages and provides the opportunity for scientists to conduct postdoctoral research in areas that fall within the research interests and cognitive areas of its departments.
