The mission of the Property Utilization & Management Company of the University of Ioannina (UOI), as defined by Article 261 of Law 4957/2022, is to manage and utilize a) the university’s real estate, b) its movable property, and c) its intellectual property, in accordance with the principles of transparency and financial management. The aim is to enhance their effective management, fully exploit their potential based on private sector economic principles, and ensure the maximization of their value, revenues, and financial performance to serve the mission of the UOI.
As part of its mission, the Company may undertake any action or transaction aimed at acquiring resources and funding to support the educational and research processes and development of the UOI.
Indicative Activities of Company:
- Representing the UOI and conducting transactions or administrative, management, utilization, and disposal actions of its real estate on its behalf.
- Leasing or granting the use of real estate and movable property under its management, through a programmatic agreement with the UOI, for the benefit of the UOI.
- Managing the UOI’s bequests according to their specific terms.
- Ensuring the security and protection of the UOI’s real estate and movable property.
- Recording and maintaining an archive of the UOI’s real estate and movable property, including property titles and relevant documents, and digitizing them.
- Conducting and commissioning studies for the utilization of the UOI’s real estate.
- Conducting and commissioning financial and technical studies, construction and maintenance studies, and oversight, management, and organization services for real estate and technical projects under the Company’s administration.
- Assigning, supervising, and executing technical projects, including construction, electrical, mechanical, energy, and hydraulic projects, as well as renovation and modernization of buildings.
- Renting out auditoriums, spaces, equipment, and infrastructure of the UOI for conferences, seminars, and artistic events, provided they do not interfere with the educational, research, and administrative functions of the Institution.
- Renting out spaces and infrastructure to support startups of postgraduate students, PhD candidates, and postdoctoral researchers, as long as they do not interfere with the core functions of the Institution.
- Managing the financial operations of the UOI’s Museums.
- Publishing university textbooks and other scientific books and journals in print and digital form, and managing intellectual property rights related to these publications.
- Operating and managing cafeterias, restaurants, and other retail stores within the UOI to support the needs of students and staff.
- Selling memorabilia and gift items.
- Operating and managing daycare centers and kindergartens.
- Operating and managing gyms and sports facilities.
- Organizing and conducting scientific, cultural, artistic, and entertainment events.
- Promoting, commercializing, and disseminating the UOI’s intellectual, artistic, and industrial property.
- Functioning as a knowledge certification body.
- Conducting any other activities, operations, or transactions that are directly or indirectly related, complementary, or supportive of its mission.
- Managing revenues through services provided by university laboratories, conducting paid research, providing consulting services, and offering expertise in subjects covered by the UOI. These activities must align with the UOI’s mission and ethical principles. They should not contradict the mission of the Company or compete with the UOI or its Special Account for Research Funds.
- Executing any other act, task, or transaction that is directly or indirectly related, complementary, or supportive of its purposes.
