The Teaching & Learning Support Center is a structure of the University of Ioannina (Government Gazette 3682/06.06.2023), aimed at ensuring the quality of the educational process. It operates under the General Directorate of Administrative Services and Academic Affairs – Directorate of Education, based on an internal regulation. The Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs and Student Welfare, Professor Panagiota Kanti from the Department of Physics, serves as the Scientific Director, while Professor Anastasios Emvalotis from the Department of Primary Education is the Coordinator.
This center is an evolution of the Teaching & Learning Support Office, which was established by Senate Decision No. 4064/14.10.2021 and restructured in accordance with the updated provisions of Law 4957/2022. It is further supported by a five-member Academic Coordination Committee (Senate Decision No. 1120/09.09.2021).
Objectives
The main objectives of KEDIMA include:
- Providing guidance and support to teaching staff for the effective design, delivery, and assessment of courses.
- Improving teaching methods, with an emphasis on modern and differentiated learning techniques.
- Promoting the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in teaching and learning.
- Informing faculty about innovative educational techniques, ensuring respect for students’ individual characteristics and needs.
- Collaborating with other university structures to enhance student education.
- Serving as a central hub for the creation, collection, and (re)distribution of educational material (both printed and digital) and best teaching practices.
Activities
The activities of KEDIMA focus on the following areas:
- Supporting faculty members by providing information on innovative teaching methods for undergraduate, postgraduate, and adult education through learning cycles, workshops, and short-term seminars.
- Training faculty on the integration of ICT tools into teaching.
- Conducting research and developing educational materials related to higher education pedagogy.
- Facilitating communication and exchange of ideas among faculty members regarding successful teaching practices and challenges they encounter.
- Establishing collaborations with similar university structures, academic institutions, research institutes, and organizations in Greece and abroad to share expertise on innovative educational approaches.
