Profile

The Department of Biological Applications and Technology was created during the 2000-2001 academic year. It aims to be on the cutting edge of both basic and applied research, and consequently to provide its students with the most modern and high quality education in all areas of Biology. Minimum duration of study: ten (10) academic semesters.

Mission and goals

The Department of Biological Applications and Technology aims to cultivate and promote the science of Biology and to study general life sciences at the organismal, cellular and molecular level. Furthermore, it aims to provide knowledge and cultivate basic, applied and technological research in two vectors: 1) provide university knowledge concerning the whole range of life sciences, with an emphasis on the technologies resulting from their application and 2) produce knowledge and create technologies with a main orientation to the study, utilization, exploration and protection of living resources and habitats at the local and national level.
